Being part of the AATFA was an exciting, inspirational and motivating experience. For a day, I was able to live my dream of being a fashion designer. From preparing my model, meeting other girls and seeing what they had created, waiting for my call, watching my creation grace the catwalk and speaking about my passion for fashion, I had a blast.I loved every minute of it.I learnt so much about all aspects of the fashion design industry and if anything, my experience gave me the confidence and encouragement to continue to follow my dream and in 2009 I will be back better, more experienced and keen to try again to reach the National Final.

Test 2

Hi, my name is Charley Bond and I am a 14-year-old Gladstone girl who decided to enter in to the Apex Teenage Fashion awards for 2008. I decided to enter in the My Culture category because I am a blend of 2 cultures, aboriginal and Australian. When I entered this event I thought I had very little chance of getting as far as I did, but I was wrong. By entering, I have not only gained more skills for life but have also gained more confidence in m self and my designing.

The experience was the best I have had by far and I hope to come back and compete for another few years while I am still eligible. I recommend anyone who enjoys designing or even modelling other designs to design a garment and enter it into the competition.

Julie Taylor's wonderful experiences as a teacher at Aberfoyle Park High School, SA whose students participated in the 2008 Awards.

A Teacher's Perspective

For their first experience in the Apex Australia Teenage Fashion Awards, the five students from my school were surprised and proud of their achievements. As their mentor, I was inspired by their passion and commitment plus the talent and creativity displayed in over 60 entries in three categories - day, evening and fantasy.

The National Judge's Perspective

HEIA (NSW) members Dr Marianne Hulsbosch, Ms Kathleen Moss and Ms Vlshna Collins were invited to judge the national finals of the Apex Australia Teenage Fashion Awards (AATFA) at Fox Studios in Sydney on Saturday 11 October 2008

The garments submitted by the state finalists were of an exceedingly high standard, reflecting both innovation and creativity. The Awards night allowed students to share their talents with their peers, family and friends. It was a fantastic event.

As judges, we thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to assist Apex Australia in the National Australia Teenage Fashion Awards, and we commend Apex Australia for their vision and determination to inspire young people to engage with fashion, and share this with the rest of the community. It was a fantastic experience for everyone involved, and we cannot wait for next year's event!
